Snow Conversion Activity

Each time there is a significant snow storm in Minneapolis, the students briefly step outside and collect snow samples.  We then melt the snow and use Math and Science conceptes to measure the amount of water produced from 14 cm of snow.  Through this activity, students learn about conducting an experiment, sample size, using a ruler to measure accurately, and working together.  In addition the concepts of median, mean, mode, and range come to life!
