NaNoWriMo

  • NaNoWriMo, short for National Novel Writing Month, happens each year during the month of November.  It encourages participants to begin writing a novel on November 1st to be completed by 11:59 p.m. on November 30th.  NaNoWriMo welcomes anyone who has ever considered writing a novel to join them during the month of November.
  • NaNoWriMo is the biggest writing event in the world and it’s expected that 500,000 novelists will participate in the event this year.
  • More than 250 NaNoWriMo novels have been traditionally published including well known novels such as Sara Gruen’s Water for Elephants, Erin Morgenstern’s The Night Circus, Rainbow Rowell’s Fangirl, and Marissa Meyer’s Cinder.
  • In addition to giving writers a specific goal of completing a novel within a month, NaNoWriMo also serves as a community for writers and a place that they can go for encouragement throughout the process. The website has a vast amount of resources on everything from writing tips to how to stay motivated.
  • If you’ve ever considered writing a novel, consider taking part in NaNoWriMo!  You never know, you could soon join the list of NaNoWriMo participants that have had their titles published!
