The Prairie Thief by Melissa Wylie

This book reminded me of "Summer of Moonight Secrets" and I liked them for the same reasons- likeable characters? Check. Louisa is a young girl who deals with distressing circumstances with grace and emotion. Magic and mystery? Check. The question of how the stolen items got in the shed connects this story with classic fairy tales (no spoilers.) Happy ending? Check! All the tangled threads of the story come together in a very satisfying ending.

This will be an easy read for most middle school students, but don't let that stop you. It is lovely and fun.
