Meet the Reading Teacher
Quiggle

Greetings! My name is Fred Quiggle & I have been blessed to be working at Anthony Middle School since 2003.  Having grown-up in Mpls., I am a proud graduate of the University of Minnesota with B.A. in English, and a M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction and specialize in Reading Instruction with a K-12 Reading Licensure, also through the University of Minnesota.

Reading/Litercay has always been a strong part of my family. I grew-up in N.E. Mpls. in a house filled with a wide variety of books, magazines, newspapers & other texts. My parents exposed me & my siblings (3 older sisters and 1 brother) to multiple kinds of reading materials ranging helping us to make sense of our world and giving us access to plenty of fiction & non-fiction, guiding us to find what WE wanted to read, not necessarily what they felt we should read.

I enjoy working alongside middle-school students, watching as they gain confidence and enthusiasm with their reading abilities and interests. As they learn, practice, and utilize skills and strategies we work with in Reader's Workshop - their success in RW and other classes fills with momentum and opens opportunites in their world of literacy. The effort that we bring to our work opens unlimited potential!!
