Etiquette and Espionage by Gail Carriger

Nothing I didn't like about this book! Sophronia is a great character, she is brave, intelligent and loyal. Her friends, Dimity, Sidheag (pronounced sid-hay) and Agnes are all different and all add to the group dynamic. The plot is clever and intricate involving a search for a mysterious prototype. The touches of pseudo-Victorian society are lovely. The book is also quite funny!

The British slang was a bit tricky in places- my Kindle dictionary didn't always help. I have a pretty good vocabulary, but I still had to look up a few things. One of my favorites was Dimity calls her brother a furuncle, which is another word for huge pimple! Gail Carringer also has a website ( where she explains a few details.

The sequel, Cutsies and Conspiricies, is also available. I am partly finished as of July 8, 2014. There will be another book in November of 2014 and a fourth in 2015.
