Dempsey Miller

Dempsey E. Miller, III is a native of Davenport, Iowa. Dempsey was the youngest of ten (10) children. Dempsey earned a football scholarship to attend The University of Northern Iowa, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Social Science. After college, Dempsey played Professional Indoor Football for various teams for seven (7) years. Dempsey currently holds a K-12 principal license in both Minnesota and Wisconsin, a master’s degree in education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. In his nineteen (19) years in education, Dempsey has served scholars and families in roles from administration, educator, pupil services-family coordinator and coach. Dempsey has written several venture grants that supported the academic, behavioral, socio-cultural and character development of students. Dempsey has been recognized with various awards-accolades throughout his professional career in athletics and education including: Instructor of The Cycle in 2001, Finalist for Defensive Player of The Year 2004, Person of The Year in 2007 and the Dr. Martin Luther King Leadership Award 2014. Dempsey was the first African American elected to the Common Council in La Crosse where he worked to create equitable systems and opportunities for all. In his spare time, you will find Dempsey at the gym, reading/researching, cooking, consulting with other professionals, mentoring youth and coaching flag football sponsored by the NFL.
